Statistics

Posted on Friday 23 February 2007

Now, when it comes to maths, I can’t stand statistics. It’s not so much the figures, it’s just all the bullshit operations that are performed on the figures.

Luckily this post isn’t about that type of statistics, it’s about the kind of statistics websites have, specifically this one, and none of the bullshit operations such as hypothesis testing and normalising the distribution.

For those that don’t know, I’ve been using Mint to track my stats for a while now, and it’s very cool indeed. So much information all on a single page, it can keep even the most hardcore stats-junkie high for hours. If anyone wants some stats tracking for their site, I recommend it. It’s lightweight, unobtrusive and only costs $30.

Anyway, today I just upgraded from 1.28 to 2.03 (I also upgraded WordPress from 2.0.2 to 2.1.1). I didn’t like the new Mint skin as much as the old, however I installed a third party skin that looks pretty swish, and also a couple of extra add-ons (called Peppers). I would tell you all about them, but why tell you when I can show you?

However, why would you want to look at a lifeless picture when you can experience the interactive stats page itself? Because now I’ve decided that, what the hell, anyone can look at the stats, so here’s the URL:

Knock yourself out.

Doh! I spent, like, 10 minutes of you explaining a lot of the same stuff over IM when I could have just looked at this post. 😛

Mmmm, I know what you mean Paul, sometimes I like to print them out and rub them on myself.
