Red Square

Posted on Tuesday 8 November 2005

So I stayed up all night watching Yes, Prime Minister and I’m going to go to a 10AM lecture in just over an hour. I finished off the bottle of Red Square (which was most of it) over the course of the night, and may I just say, it’s crap.

Red Square (silver) is basically just a Vodka Red Bull, so it has Caffeine, Taurine and obviously alcohol in it. It’s not all that strong (only 5.1%) but it has TWO stimulants in it, so why am I so damn tired??? I reckon I had at least 0.6L (was a 0.7L bottle) and I started drinking it at around 6AM.

Therefore there are only two possible explanations; either stimulants don’t affect me, or the stimulants are present in such small quantities that they may aswell not be there.

Anyway, I plan to go to the 10AM lecture, then come back here and crash until it’s time for a lecture at 5PM. 11AM – 4:45PM should be enough sleep to at least keep me awake during Logic, assuming of course that the alarms are able to wake me for more than just the time it takes to turn them off. I have that down to a fine art, I don’t even have to open my eyes any more (this isn’t neccessarily a good thing).

Red Square Silver is crap as a simulant …. in fact, a good strong coffee works better than it, i think the fact that it has Caffeine and Taurine in it is just so they can advertise it as an alcoholic “energy” drink. In reality the Taurine is said to boost the effects of caffine, but as there is very little caffine in the drink, i doubt it does do very much.
Also, random fact – Its call Taurine because it was first found in Ox Bile, and Ox = Taurus.
On the Plus side, the Ginseng in Red Square and Redbull is said to combat impotence and improve male fertility!

Dude…just put the alarm clock SOMEWHERE ELSE. So you have to get up to turn it off.
